How reviews work

In effect from 1 October 2026

A review on KAAM is written by the other side of a job that happened on KAAM, after it was finished. That is the whole of how one gets there, and this page sets out the rest.

Draft. The registered company details and ICO registration on these pages are still to be filled in, and the set should be read by a solicitor before launch.

1. Only from a completed job on KAAM

A review can only be left on a job agreed and completed through KAAM. The job counts as completed when the customer accepts the professional’s completion - not when the professional says it is done. Nobody can review a job that was cancelled, a quote that was never accepted, or work arranged somewhere else.

Each side can review the other once per job: a rating from one to five, whether the work was on time, and a comment if they want to write one. There is no way to post a review without a job behind it, and no way to post a second one about the same job.

2. Which reviews appear on a profile

Reviews go both ways - a professional can review the customer too - but only reviews of a professional’s work appear on their public profile or count towards their rating. What a professional writes about a customer is never published, and is never used to rank anybody.

The rating and the number of reviews on a profile are worked out from every review of that professional’s work. The list below them is the most recent ones, newest first, whatever their rating; how many are listed depends on the professional’s plan, and when the list is shorter than the count, the profile says so. Nobody - not the professional, and not KAAM - can choose which reviews are listed or hide a low one.

3. Nobody edits a review

Once a review is posted it cannot be changed or withdrawn by either side, and KAAM does not edit reviews either. The professional can reply once, publicly, and the reply is shown under the review.

4. Everyone is asked, not just happy customers

About a day after every completed job, KAAM asks both sides once whether they want to leave a review. It asks after every completed job, not only the ones that went well, and it does not ask twice.

KAAM does not pay for reviews or offer discounts or credit for them. A professional’s rating is one of the things that decides the order in which they are invited to new jobs, which is why it has to be earned from real ones. If anybody offers you something in return for a review, or for changing one, tell us.

5. If you think a review is fake, or should not be there

Email safety@kaam.uk with a link to the profile and which review you mean. A person reads every report; how reports are handled, and how to complain if you disagree with what we decided, is on the safety page.

There is not yet a report button on an individual review, as there is on photos, messages and profiles. Until there is, email is the way, and it reaches the same people.
