Professional terms

In effect from 1 October 2026

These apply if you take work through KAAM, on top of the terms of use. Where the two disagree about something a professional does, this page wins.

Draft. The registered company details and ICO registration on these pages are still to be filled in, and the set should be read by a solicitor before launch.

1. You are in business on your own account

KAAM is not your employer, your agent or your client. You decide which jobs to respond to, what to charge, and how and when the work is done. You are responsible for your own tax, National Insurance, insurance and equipment, and for anyone who works for you.

You confirm you are entitled to work in the United Kingdom, and that you hold any licence, registration or membership the law requires for the work you offer. If that changes, stop offering the work and tell us.

2. Verification

Some services on KAAM cannot be offered until named checks are verified and in date - identity, public liability insurance, a trade registration, and others depending on the work. The system enforces this: you are not matched to a job in a service until every mandatory requirement for it is verified.

The evidence you give us must be genuine, current and yours. Giving false evidence ends the account, and where the document is a public registration we may tell the body that issued it. What each badge means, and what it does not, is set out in what verified means.

We remind you before a document lapses. If it lapses, the badge goes and so does your eligibility for that service, until it is renewed.

3. Responding, and the price you give

A response is an offer you are prepared to honour. Give a price for the work as described; if the description is wrong or incomplete, say so before you price it rather than after.

You will not see another professional’s price, and they will not see yours. Attempting to obtain another’s response, or coordinating prices with other professionals on KAAM, ends the account.

Once a household accepts your response, you have an agreement with them. Withdrawing from accepted work repeatedly, or not turning up, is grounds for suspension.

4. The subscription

Plans are published on the pricing page and billed in advance, monthly, by card or Direct Debit. What a plan includes - how many responses, how many arrangements, which surfaces - is enforced by the system from the same rows the price comes from, so what you are charged and what you can do never drift apart.

KAAM takes no percentage of the work. The price you agree with a household is yours in full. We do not hold it, invoice for it or take a commission on it.

Price changes are announced by email at least 30 days before they take effect and apply only to billing periods starting on or after that date. A reduction may apply immediately.

5. Cancelling a plan

Cancel in billing, at any time, without asking us. Cancelling stops the next charge; the plan keeps working until the end of the period you have already paid for, and we do not refund part of a month.

If you are an individual or sole trader, you also have the statutory 14-day right to cancel a subscription you took out online, from the day it started. Ask within those 14 days at hello@kaam.uk and we refund what you paid, less a proportionate amount for the days you had the plan, if you asked us to start it immediately.

If a payment fails we tell you and try again. If it keeps failing the plan drops to the free tier - your account, your history and your clients stay; the paid features stop.

6. Reviews and ratings

Households can rate work they had done. We publish what they write, subject to the acceptable use policy. We do not remove a review for being unflattering, and we do not sell placement.

Writing or arranging a review of your own business, or of a competitor, is fraud against the people who read it. It ends the account, and we report it where the law requires.

7. Households you bring yourself

Your own clients, and the schedules you keep for them in KAAM, are yours. We use that data to run the features you are paying for and for nothing else: we do not market to your clients, and we do not offer them to other professionals. If you leave, you can export it and we delete it on the schedule in the privacy notice.

8. Suspension

We may suspend an account immediately where there is a risk to someone’s safety, a credible allegation of fraud, or lapsed mandatory verification. Otherwise we tell you what the problem is and give you a chance to fix it. Either way you can put your side to complaints@kaam.uk and a different person looks at it.
